Ted Nugent compares himself to Rosa Parks as he tries to sell autographs

Right-wing rocker Ted Nugent this week compared himself to civil rights icon Rosa Parks over her refusal to wear a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

While most of the mask mandates were removed long ago, Nugent railed against him when he attempted to sell his autograph “I Won’t Comply” Merchant during an appearance on the Voice of Real America.

“What a beautiful statement, ‘I will not obey.’ I’m like Rosa Parks with a Glock,” he said. “You try to give me a stupid, immoral, meaningless, arbitrary, complacent, punitive, mandate mask, and I won’t abide by it.”

PatriotTech, a right-wing media watcher, posted the clip:

Nugent has a history of imposing parks during its right-wing punches. According to the Detroit Free Press, in 2019, he struck down a Michigan law that banned deer and elk bites, and called it the “Rosa Parks moment” when poachers refused to comply. And in 2013, amid reports that then-President Barack Obama could issue an executive order to help reduce gun violence, Nugent also drew comparisons.

“There will come a time when America’s gun owners, America’s law-abiding gun owners, will be Rosa Parks, and we sit in the front seat of the bus, the case will be closed,” Nugent told World Net Daily.

Nugent has made headlines for its even more offensive moments. In 2007, he appeared as a pair of machine guns at a concert and said that Obama – still a senator and presidential candidate – “can suck my machine gun” and Hillary Clinton, a senator and presidential candidate. The candidate of, too, “could ride one of these into the sunset.”
