Gubernatorial candidate Larry the Elder quickly ended his drive to his next campaign stop at Venice Beach when more than 10 hecklers harassed him, threw projectiles, and allegedly attacked his bodyguard on 8 September.
During a tour of the Venice Beach homeless camps, Elder was joined by 30 media personnel and members of the public when a group of hecklers approached him on Third Street. The two hecklers were repeatedly slurring racial slurs.
The crowd moved down Rose Avenue, where one of the main camps is located. The miscreants chased.
A woman in a pink gorilla mask is seen riding a bike about halfway through the camp Video Throwing an egg that seemed to be falling off the head of the elder.
One of the Elder’s security personnel tried to separate the woman from the crowd to stop her from throwing the projectile.
In the video that surfaced on Twitter, the woman slapped the security personnel in the face. Another protester hit the same security staff member seconds later.
A white SUV reached the crowd, which was heading towards Sunset Avenue from Hampton Drive.
The Elder’s team took him to their vehicle and left.
Media persons later boarded a bus and met with the elder to continue the tour.
The elder was to leave the parking lot of the Rose Cafe and spend 45 minutes talking to the media. However, at about 20 minutes into the walk-through, the program ended early due to safety concerns.
