The athlete from Monclova won bronze in the Archery World Cup

Pride of Coahuila, Pride of Monclova. State athlete Dafne Quintero made her mark in Coahuila sports history by winning the bronze medal at the Archery World Cup in Hermosillo.

Representing Mexico, the Monclova native reached the World Cup final and finished sixth in the series standings to claim a historic medal that would put her in the spotlight of our country’s sport.

On Sonora soil, Quintero faced world number two, Britain’s Ella Gibson, in the quarterfinals, whom she defeated in a close match that ended in her favor 145-144.

Then came the step to placing in the Grand Final. In the semifinals, the woman from Coahuila met Dane Tanja Gellenthien, number four in the competition, with whom she lost 147:144 and thus entered the fight for bronze.

Quintero took on Korean Cho Su A, a true duel between the two that culminated in a hard-fought victory for the one from Coahuila.

With all the power of Monclova, Dafne won 144-142, climbed onto the podium, took bronze and made history in the world championship of this specialty, which filled an entire state with pride.

It is the first time that Dafne Quintero has achieved an individual medal in the Archery World Cup final, far surpassing what was achieved in Tlaxcala in 2022, where she was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

The next challenge for the state athlete will be the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, where she will try to win a new medal for her extensive track record that makes her one of the best in the world in women’s compound bow.
