The attacker who comes to Millonarios

Following Edgar Guerra’s departure to Mexican football, Millonarios activated the search for a winger to strengthen the team for this season, with the main objective being to perform well in the Copa Libertadores. And one of the options that they have in their portfolio is the return of the young player who wore the blue shirt at the beginning of the Alberto Gamero era.

According to AS Colombia’s #EsUnHecho member Mariano Olsen, the Bogotá club are interested in the return of Emerson Rivaldo Rodríguez, who is currently at Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. A player who has already spoken to the coach can join on loan.

“Confirmed. The winger Millonarios is interested in is Emerson Rivaldo Rodriguez. The 23-year-old footballer, who is under contract at Inter Miami until December 2025, has already spoken with Gamero. The most viable option would be a loan link for 1 year. It’s a possibility,” Olsen said on her X account.

Emerson Rodriguez returns to Miami at the end of 2023 after a loan season at Santos Laguna. Although he took part in training with Messi, Suárez, Busquets and others, Inter coach Gerardo Martino did not pay attention to him for preseason friendly matches. The Colombian did not travel to Asia with the rest of the team to continue training and his departure from Florida looks imminent.

A little more than a week ago there was speculation about his possible return to Santos in Mexico, as the president of said club, Pablo Repetto, indicated that the attacker’s return was on track. However, that option did not pan out and now his name is on the millionaire radar.

It is noteworthy that Rodriguez played for Embajador in 2020 and 2021. In total, he played 57 games, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists. He was transferred to Inter Miami in January 2022.
