The Austrian Embassy visits Magellan to learn more about the production of green Hydrogen

This Thursday, the Ambassador of Austria in Chile, Stephan Vavrik, met with the Delegate of the Regional Presidency, Luz Bermúdez Sandoval, to discuss various topics related to the region, with a central theme of global interest: green hydrogen. He was accompanied at the meeting by his wife and the honorary consul of Austria in Magellan, Theresia Hofer Gesiler.

The delegate of the Regional Presidency indicated “… We know that the road is long that we have started to travel, the national green policy is a long-term plan that establishes the ambitions of Chile to create a new industry for the benefit of the country and all its inhabitants.

According to Ambassador Vavrik, the future Austrian investment in Chile is seen as one of the most important protections for that country, considering our key port for the green hydrogen industry.

“In Europe we know that we can only produce half of the h2v that we need in the future to decarbonize the economy and that Chile will be one of the countries with the greatest potential for the production and export of h2v, which is the reason why we have a project in Magellan, Austria, if at all we can produce the works on the 27th”, explained the ambassador.

The Ambassador promises that life will change more intensively, since Green Hydrogen is such an important energy, which starts from scratch, with global potential and will be installed in a country of only 250,000 inhabitants. “Everything that will happen around H2V is not only production, new production, new technologies will be found and everything will reach the region. Finally, with Austrian companies, which are also active worldwide, in the H2V region”, he points out.

It is hoped that with the rise of Green Hydrogen, exports from Chile to Europe will increase. “… We already have lithium and copper imports in Europe, but with h2v it is estimated to double the value of Chile’s exports and Chile’s role in global climate change.”

Confirming what was previously said by the ambassador, this Friday the Austrian delegation can get to know the region, analyze the entire H2V sector, its potential and the cooperation that they can grant to Chilean companies and the region.
