Wednesday morning in Adliswil ZH was a time of shock for the residents of a house. As a reader reporter’s pictures show, a balcony railing collapsed!
According to the photos, a part of the balcony is now on the terrace of the apartment below.
Blick was able to speak to affected residents on Wednesday afternoon. One tells that he was sitting on a bench on his terrace at around 9 in the morning. “Then I heard a crack. And saw how the trunks of the upper plant bent forward.»
15 minutes after the first crack, some parts of the balcony fall down
A resident of the apartment building walks into the apartment above and next to him and rings the bell. “To warn the residents.” Then it happened: “About 15 minutes after the first crack, the trunk of the plant fell on the balcony. It made a loud noise. Luckily no one was hurt.”
The resident said that he did not know how it happened. “The house is almost 50 years old – and nothing comparable has ever happened. We don’t blame the administration, they do their job well. They contacted us after the incident and asked if everything was okay.”
He doesn’t even know when the big chunks of his balcony will be cleaned. “I think the part that came down is probably 800-1000 kilograms.”
Blick Cat Finds Jimmy
His neighbor was also affected by the balcony collapse. “I miss my cat Jimmy,” she tells Blick. “I’m afraid he was crushed by the trunks of fallen plants.”
However, when Blick is at the woman’s apartment, the Blick reporter discovers the cat – it is on the wall beneath a plant. The resident is relieved: “Now I’ll wait until he comes. He’s probably shocked, as am I.”

Zurich Canton Police confirmed to Blick, a related operation was underway. The report was received at 9:45 am on Wednesday. Fire brigade and police were on the spot.
There were no casualties in the accident. Now the investigation into the cause of the accident will be started.
