Finding paid internships in New York City is very difficult for many undocumented students.
That’s why the Oyate Group organization created the Beyond Rising program, which offers students paid internships that don’t require them to prove their immigration status.
According to the organization, they started last year with 20 students completing their paid internships at Fordham University.
At the beginning of 2023, the program was expanded to 45 students who can also complete their internships at Lehman College.
Those interested will receive a $500 gift card donation.
The aim of the program is to give undocumented people access to adequate preparation and to break the vicious circle of underemployment and poverty.
New places will be opened in autumn for a part-time internship, starting in October and ending in May 2024.
