At the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup, Brazil’s Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said: He apologized to the Chilean people for his country’s role in the dictatorship in Chile.

“For me it is very painful but necessary to say that I blame and condemn the Brazilian dictatorship for its collaboration in the coup in Chile,” said the minister of the neighboring country.
He also pointed out that this collaboration is a “blemish” in Brazilian history that deserves to be remembered so that something like this does not happen again. “That’s why we’re here, making repairs,” he emphasized.
“We are also here apologizing to the Chilean people because the Brazilian dictatorship contributed to a military coup here in Chile 50 years ago.” Dinosaur said.
It is worth mentioning that for the first time Brazil apologizes to Chile for the role played by the country, then led by dictator Emílio Garrastazu Médici, during the coup and the dictatorship that followed.
