The California Rodeo Salinas held its first Christmas celebration

The California Rodeo Association in Salinas held its first-ever Christmas community event on Thursday.

The free “Country Christmas Celebration” will take place Thursday, November 30, from 5 – 7 pm in front of the Salinas Sports Complex box office. The event features complimentary photos with a cowboy Santa Claus, free hot cocoa, mini donuts, and candy canes.

Organizers say there will be free toys for the first 500 children at the event, donated by Compass Church. Children’s activities include Christmas tree decorating and a special area where children can write letters to Santa.

To entertain the guests, Compass Church will have their choir sing Christmas carols. The non-profit Luna Creciente has Folklorico dancers performing at 5:40 pm and 6:20 pm

The 20-foot tall Christmas tree was donated by Jenkinson Family Christmas Trees. It will be lit at 6pm and will remain lit until the new year.

The Salinas Sports Complex is located at 1034 N. Main St. The event is presented by MYCARS.com.
