EAGLE PASS; Texas. – A group of 500 to 800 immigrants arrived at the Eagle Pass-Piedras Negras border, where they surrendered to Border Patrol agents.
The immigrant caravan had been spotted since Sunday afternoon and was guarded by Mexican authorities until it reached the border with the United States this morning.
The border guard activated access to accommodate the group in a controlled manner.
The immigrants reportedly planned to seek asylum. However, under U.S. law, those caught crossing the border illegally lose their eligibility to seek asylum.
On Monday morning, the group was seen under the border bridge awaiting transfer to immigration centers.
