Mexico City. The collaboration with Cuba for 806 specialist doctors to work in Mexico has been completed for a year, a period in which more than 665,000 specialty consultations, 23,492 operations and 592 endoscopy studies were given, and others, in 16 states. These procedures would not have been possible without the participation of island personnel, said Zoé Robledo, director of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
During the morning conference at the National Palace, where President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was not present, the official assured that experts are working in the most remote areas of the country, in hospitals that for many years have had vacant places and no -occupy. They currently offer medical care in 36 clinical specialties.
He also commented that this collaboration will be extended for one year and alternatives for its expansion are being explored, he explained.
Another topic discussed by Robledo is the improvement of the basicization of workers already working in IMSS Bienestar. He said that 8,614, which are in seven entities, already have basic positions, of which 5,484 are from Mexico City.
He emphasized that the criteria to be considered are that people do not have a basic position in another institution and that they work in the medical field.
The employees who have regularized their employment status are from Nayarit, Tlaxcala, Colima, Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Sur and Mexico City.
In the next phase, where no deadlines have been defined, workers from Guerrero, Campeche, Veracruz, Zacatecas and Chiapas will enter.
Subsequently, basification occurs in Tamaulipas, Quintana Roo, Puebla, Tabasco, and Morelos. Finally, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí and Baja California.
