The Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment is the fastest growing segment in the country. The biggest target segment for most companies entering the Indian market in the last few years. Last year in 2019, South Korea’s leading automaker Kia made its first step in India with its SUV Seltos and now in the month of September, it has become the best selling SUV of the country.
Competing with models like Hyundai Creta and MG Hector, this SUV from Kia Motor has performed well in the month of September. The company has sold a total of 9,583 units of Seltos during this period, which is the highest in the segment. Thanks to this SUV, the company has sold a total of 14,441 units of vehicles.
Growing Market Share:
Kia has become the fastest growing brand in the Indian market. In the month of September, the market share of Kia India in the passenger car segment has increased by 1.4 percent to 7.8% as compared to the month of September last year. The Kia Seltos has surpassed the Hyundai Creta in the month of September 2021 to become the best-selling SUV in the country.
On the other hand, a total of 4,454 units of sub-compact SUV Kia Sonet and 404 units of MPV Carnival have been sold. The company says that the vehicles are being sold for the last 25 months and so far the company has sold 3.3 lakh vehicles in India. Recently, the Kia Sonnet has also crossed the one lakh sales mark in India. Earlier this month, the company also updated the Kia Carnival Premium MPV and it is now available in four trim levels, which include Premium, Prestige, Limousine and Limousine Plus.
How is Kia Seltos:
Available in a total of 7 variants, this SUV comes with 3 different engine options. This includes 1.5 liter petrol, 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines. These engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. Apart from this, they are also available with automatic gearbox.
The company claims that its petrol engine variant gives a mileage of 16 km and diesel variant up to 21 kmpl. As far as features are concerned, the company has given Kia’s traditional UVO connectivity system with 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Apart from this, there is an air purifier, ambient lighting, 8-inch head-up display, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable driver seat, a 7-inch multi-information display, 8-speaker Bose sound system and a sunroof. Other features include smartwatch connectivity, Smart Key remote-engine start and ‘Hello Kia’ wake up command.
Safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Emergency Stop Signal, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill Assist Control (HAC). 6 airbags are available. The price of this SUV in the Indian market is between Rs 9.95 lakh to Rs 18.10 lakh.
