The COVID-19 pandemic has reportedly put a strain on Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’ marriage.
The 54-year-old actor and his 67-year-old wife, who married in 1996 and have two children, Oscar Maximilian, 23, and Ava Eliot, 18, separated after nearly 30 years of dating. The couple and their friends believe the pandemic and the current strikes in Hollywood have affected their relationship.
A source told DailyMail.com: “They are together forever, along with the children they have.” However, after the last few years, the love they had for each other developed into more of a friendship, which has continued during the COVID-19 pandemic. 19 crisis collapsed. “The lockdown hasn’t helped their marriage at all and is really putting a strain on their relationship.”
The source continued: “They worked on it and couldn’t get it back.” The strikes didn’t help in the slightest, they put them in the same situation as COVID, where they just kicked the tires, and Hugh found that no more everything had the same magic as it once did. Deb had similar worries and thoughts and separation is the best option. They will never speak negatively about each other, time has simply passed for them and now they accept this fate.”
When they announced their split, the couple said they felt “blessed” by their time together.
“We were fortunate to spend nearly three decades as husband and wife in a wonderful and loving marriage. “Our journey is now changing and we have decided to go our separate ways to further our individual growth,” the press release said.
The statement continued: “Our family has always been and will always be our top priority. We approach this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding of respecting our privacy as our family goes through this transition throughout our lives.”
The couple signed as “Deb and Hugh Jackman” and concluded: “That’s the only statement either of us will make.”
They met in 1995 on the set of the television series “Corelli” in their native Australia and their marriage was considered one of the strongest in show business.
