WWE will celebrate a new PLE of its developmental brand, NXT Battlegrounds, next Sunday, May 28, just one day after WWE Night of Champions, a premium live event originating from Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Mike Johnson, a reporter for PWInsider, has reported that the company already has a date set for the next NXT PLE. The event will take place on Saturday, August 12, a week after WWE SummerSlam. At this time, the location of the event has not been confirmed.
It must be remembered that the COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to celebrate its NXT PLE from the Performance Center. However, when the situation improved and the world returned to the “new normal”, the Evolution brand continued to hold its events from the Orlando, Florida venue.
However, with NXT Vengeance Day, the brand returned to the road to fulfill their PLEs in other areas of the country, such as Charlotte (North Carolina), Dallas (Texas), Los Angeles (California) and Lowell (Massachusetts), where NXT Battleground will be there, so hopefully the August event will be outside of Orlando as well.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the brand did not hold a PLE last August, although it did a month later, with a new edition of Worlds Collide, an event where the NXT and NXT UK Championships were integrated after it was done. Disappeared from the British brand.
As a curious fact, the last PPV/PLE brand held in August was NXT TakeOver 36, which took place in 2021, the last event to carry “TakeOver” in its name. The show was performed from the Performance Center with a small audience due to sanitary restrictions imposed following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The premium live event to be held in August will be the 47th for the brand and the fourth for 2023 after NXT Battleground. It is possible that the company will make an official announcement around the celebration of the Lowell event, where we will be presented with the first poster and the location of the show.
