Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury vehicle division Genesis Motor (Genesis Motor) has made a big announcement. Genesis has announced a new technology for smart cars that will work like the Face ID feature of smartphones. It is named Face Connect Technology, which will recognize the face and open the door of the vehicle, that too without the key. Genesis says that the new technology will help customers personalize their vehicle, leading to a better driving experience. Genesis has said that the new technology can be seen in the upcoming model GV60.
All settings will be activated
The driver’s seat, steering wheel, head-up-display (HUD), side mirrors and infotainment settings will be automatically adjusted once the driver is identified through Face Connect technology. In this technology, a Near Infra-Red (NIR) camera has been used, which will be able to detect even in the dark whether the face is already registered in the system or not. The special thing about the technology will be that the driver will not have to carry the key with him all the time.

Even if someone leaves the smart key in the car, the vehicle can be locked using Face ID technology. Genesis says the Face Connect system will be able to store up to two faces per vehicle. According to the company, the data of the registered faces will be encrypted, which will be safely stored in the vehicle. Drivers can delete their details at any time and register a new profile using the voice assistant.
Fingerprint facility will also be available
Apart from Face ID technology, Genesis also has another smartphone-like technology – fingerprint authentication system. It can help the driver to control the vehicle based on biometric information without a smartphone or smart key. Anyone registered with these two systems can enter the vehicle through facial recognition and drive the car by fingerprint recognition. Fingerprint authentication can also be used for in-vehicle payments.
