The Ecuadorian Navy includes the new RQ-11 Raven UAVs transferred by the US.

Through transfer from the United States Department of Defense, The Ecuadorian Navy inducts the new RQ-11 Raven portable unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), The delivery of the new drone for surveillance and border control tasks was done at an official event attended by Ecuadorian Defense Minister Luis Lara.

The RQ-11 Raven is an unmanned aerial vehicle designed and manufactured by the United States company AeroVironment. Widely adopted by armed forces around the world, its compact design is ideal for low altitude surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance missions that require rapid deployment.

It is equipped with Mantis i23 gimbal camera with optical and infrared sensors. Its wingspan is 1.4 meters and weighs 1.9 kg. Powered by an electric motor, it has a flight autonomy of 60 to 90 minutes and a range of 10 km.

The Ecuadorian Navy and Ministry of Defense highlights the new incorporation, which “Will strengthen command, control and surveillance capabilities along the northern border” by country.

The delivery of the new aircraft coincided with the 56th anniversary of the Ecuadorian Naval Aviation. The officers present emphasized that its induction would strengthen control and surveillance capabilities in all jurisdictional waters in support of surface units of the force and Coast Guard.
