The Embassy of Colombia will insist on a visa exemption to the US through a memorandum

“Besides the issue of the exemption from Colombian visas, our last action was to set up a technical board – led by the Vice-Minister of the Interior Francisco Coy – where the various agencies defined the work of the card. And with that we will send a memorandum to the Government of the United States in which we will approve our request”, Murillo he said, in the middle of an interview with the Presidency radio program “Colombia Hoy Radio”.

The Colombian diplomat went so far as to state that the process for the US government to withdraw this demand will not be easy and may even take a few years until it is implemented. But he also declared his intention to continue the process with the Department of Homeland Security of the United States of America.

A memorandum to be sent by the government of Colombia

The memorandum basically consists of a statement in which the Colombian government will confirm its intention to accept the withdrawal process. But, as is well known, in order to achieve this benefit, Colombia has to comply with the parameters that electronic passports issued and viewed (B) have a rejection rate of less than three percent.

The national government must also ensure “good exchange of information for law enforcement and security with the United States” and timely notification of lost and stolen passports, both blank and issued.
