In a joint statement released by the White House, they noted that “we – President Emmanuel Macron of France; Chancellor Olaf Scholz of Germany; Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy; Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom and President Joe Biden of the United States – we express our strong and united support for the State of Israel, and our unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its heinous acts of terrorism.”
In the statement, which was released after a call between the leaders to resolve the situation in Israel, they indicated that “the terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification or legitimacy, and must be verified by all. There is no justification for terrorism.”
Since Hamas invaded Israel by air, land and sea last Saturday, the toll so far is over 900 Israelis dead and 2,600 injured; On the Palestinian side, 687 were killed, including 140 children, and 3,726 were injured, according to the latest count from the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
“In recent days, the world has watched in horror as Hamas terrorists massacred families in their homes, massacred more than 200 young people enjoying a music festival, and kidnapped old women, children, and entire families, who are now being held hostage,” the American and European leaders said.
“Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to protect itself and its people from such atrocities. We further emphasize that this is not a time for any party against Israel to exploit these attacks for good.”
At the same time, the rulers recognized the “legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and we support equal measures of justice and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians alike.” However, they said that Hamas “does not represent the aspirations and offers nothing to the Palestinian people except more terror and bloodshed.”
The countries emphasized that they will remain “united and united, together as allies and as common friends of Israel, to ensure that Israel can defend itself and, ultimately, to establish the conditions for a peaceful and unified Middle East region.”
