‘The Expendables 4’: Sylvester Stallone will say goodbye to the saga with a final but explosive film

In a nostalgic trip, reminiscent of the golden age of action cinema, The Expendables returns once again to dazzle with the ultimate in fights, punches and machine guns. We are talking, not a little, about the fourth installment of this franchise, which continues to be a true tribute to the action heroes of the 80s and 90s.

The movie was released on September 21 in Tico cinemas, which did not disappoint fans of the genre.

Classic action cinema gave us real icons on the big screen, such as Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris, who played characters capable of defeating entire armies with one a couple of tactics and some weapons at their disposal.

However, the irresistible enemy called time gradually removed these symbolic names from the cinemas, giving way to new generations and retreating from the era of untouchable heroes. However, in 2010, everything changed.

With the start of the Expendables franchise, that year marked the return of these cinematic legends. This saga introduces us to a group of veteran mercenaries who are able to complete missions that seem insurmountable for any individual.

Thirteen years later, cinemas are now showing the fourth installment of the saga, where veteran mercenary Barney “Skizo” Ross, played by Sylvester Stallone, will face a new special mission.

Due to the difficulty of the new task, Barney will gather, as usual, an elite group made up of the best mercenaries on the planet. This mission (which is not specified in the synopsis) will test your wisdom, experience and strength like never before.

Of course: this installment has a special flavor, because Sylvester Stallone announced that this will be his last participation in The Expendables. “The time has come to pass the baton into the hands of Statham (Jason),” Stallone told Cinema Express.

“What will never be lost, I can assure you, is a lot of action and all the adrenaline that characterizes each of our films,” he added.

Mercenaries of all kinds

In The Expendables 4, a new generation of stars joins the team led by Stallone and Statham. Now names like rapper 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran and Andy García are part of the cast. Together they form an elite team that represents the world’s last line of defense, a resource to fall back on when all other options have exhausted their usefulness.

What we can be sure of is that, even if Stallone leaves the franchise, there will still be Expendables for a while. This saga has become one of the favorites of action movie lovers, because, according to the special portal IMDB, the franchise represents an estimated investment of $380 million and has raised more than $800 million worldwide.

There will come a day when the giants of action cinema will no longer be among us, but for those who enjoyed their adventures full of inaccuracy, violence and explosions, The Expendables 4 is an unforgettable tribute. In short, a love letter to action cinema that you can enjoy in your favorite cinema circuit.
