Michigan Detroit Pizza is the first Detroit-style pizzeria in Valencia, opening its doors this coming Friday, May 26, in the Cabanial neighborhood. This new concept comes together with chef Kassandra Mahmoud from Boufit and Silvia Fatfood, renowned food lovers in Valencia.
Michigan will be located at Mercader, the new Cabaniel Gastronomic Market opening this coming Friday (more info soon).
This will be the first pizzeria in the Valencian community to focus exclusively on the Detroit style of pizza which, as its name suggests, comes from the city of Detroit in the United States state of Michigan.
What is Detroit-Style Pizza?

This pizza is primarily characterized by its rectangular shape (commonly called “square pizza”), its thick crusty cheese edges, and a focaccia-style dough.
Boffitt, Sylvia and Cassandra, who were the originators of the project, decided to start it after their last trip to the United States and Canada. During his travels, he visited the cities of Detroit, New York, and Toronto, where he explored the concept up close at iconic restaurants such as Buddies, Louie’s, Pizza Loves Emily, and Cloverleaf.
A La Carte by Michigan Detroit Pizza
The impressive couple will start this adventure with a reduced menu consisting of 6 to 7 types of pizzas, some starters and desserts. These can be enjoyed on the spot or ordered to go.
Some of the ingredients found in its diverse offering are pepperoni, mortadella, piperras, with marinara sauce and a slightly spicy honey topping.
“Our fans were hoping that we would finally open something of our own where we could offer them the authentic flavors of the USA,” say Bouffit and Sylvia.
