Tinder, the most famous dating app in the world for meeting new people, has just released its ‘The Future of Dating’ 2023 report, which suggests that young people between the ages of 18 and 25 (Gen Z) will revolutionize the dating world. are bringing Dating like no other generation has done before.
69% of Gen Z believe they are setting the standard for dating, and more than half of their successors, the millennials, agree that dating is healthier for today’s youth than for people of a similar age.
This is the second Tinder report after the original 2021 report, which reflected new trends in meeting new people coming out of the pandemic. With a return to normality, this year’s report highlights nine new trends based on three broad themes: inclusivity, technology and authenticity.
“In 2023, Tinder is primarily used by Gen Z. It is a community that seeks to influence society and profoundly challenges restrictive norms. No other generation has had such an impact on the workplace, retail, technology, politics and culture. “We believe this generation is driving the biggest change we’ve ever seen in how we connect, who we date, and what dating really is,” says Tinder COO Faye Losotaluno.
What is the role of technology?
Technology continues to make positive changes to the way you meet people: The majority of people under the age of 30 are already using dating apps. More than half (55%) have been in a serious relationship with someone they met on Tinder and 37% know someone who has.
How does the generation of digital natives view the technology underlying their new way of flirting? That’s the question Tinder asks, and the answer is that there will always be expectations that technology should be easy and intuitive. The app is credited with being the key to making dating easy, safe and fun. It took away the uncertainties of a person as to who might like you or not, giving you the control in the palm of your hand to decide.
Today, technology is redundant unless it complements and satisfies a need, so Gen Z determines. While this younger generation of singles is excited about the opportunities that artificial intelligence can provide, it will not do so at the expense of reality.
Gen Z is happy that AI helps them create a profile for dating apps (34%), but at the same time, they show little interest in these generic and auto-filled profiles that lack authenticity, which is seen as a high Considered respected. Perhaps the biggest use of AI is as a “digital companion”, with most 18-25 year olds agreeing that AI can be used as first aid in overcoming the barrier of writing a bio or breaking the ice and getting the conversation flowing. Might be useful as well.
