The future of youth literature is called Laura

The story we are about to tell has its origins, like many others, in months of imprisonment. But this is not an isolated story. For many reasons. For example, we can mention the age of its very young protagonist. Or that as a result of that beginning, pushed to a great extent by a disgusting virus, a fruit was born that this Friday was presented to the society in Avila. But the best thing would be for us to introduce you both.

The protagonist is called Laura Villafafila Villamediana. He is barely 17 years old. She is a second year high school student at Asunción de Nuestra Señora School. And this Friday he presented his first youth literature novel.

That novel, of course, is the fruit we were talking about. It is called ‘ethlworld’.

“I am very happy as well as nervous, I don’t know where I am,” she told Diario de Avila with emotion, a few minutes before the presentation of her novel, in which, by the way, she was supported by her Was classmate college.

“‘Athlworld’ is a young adult urban fantasy novel,” he began revealing the secrets of his work. The story, also said, is set in the city of Butler in the state of Pennsylvania, and focuses on a girl starting her last year of high school, who is involved in a mission to save Æthelvard’s dimension and who ends up in the dark. I drag my friends into it. “But what they do not know is that their destiny is written in a prophecy,” advanced the author himself, who in any case did not want to discover more about his story, so that all young readers may be encouraged to delve into it. ,

The truth is that Laura’s maturity is astonishing, as although she is now 17, she began writing her novel when she was just 15.

“As a child I noticed that I liked to write, but I never gave much importance to it”, she recalled, “but it is true that from there (she refers to “a day off”) she I got it during my imprisonment) I started writing more as a hobby than anything else, without thinking that today I am presenting a book», now the nervous laugh returns to his face.

‘Ethelvard’ is published by Suceya Adikines, a Valladolid publishing house whose editorial director, José Luis Pastor, also wanted to accompany Laura to this Friday’s presentation.

“For us Laura was a surprise, especially because of her age, she is a gem in one way or another,” she said, referring to the young writer from Avila.

With him they went to work polishing the text and finishing it as best they could. And with it he also felt “the feeling that there is a future, that people continue to write, that young people have something to tell.” For this reason, he saw “hope” in Laura that “things will keep coming out” and that “young people have a voice.”

The first youth novel by the young author of Ávila, Laura Villafafila Villamediana, is aimed at children aged eleven and older and is already on sale at Antrelines and Diocesana bookstores in Ávila, as well as pre-sales on Editorial Suecia’s website, for 14 euros.
