The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) and the Ministry of Territorial Policy, has authorized today the signing of three agreements for the suppression of three level crossings between Adif and the Government of Cantabria. metric gauge network in the region with a global investment of 11.3 million euros (VAT included), financed equally by both administrations.
One of them is in Pondera in the Ramelles de la Victoria municipal area, located at kilometer point 594/545 of the Santander–Bilbao – La Concordia metric gauge line. The solution to the suppression of this pass would involve building an overpass over the road that would provide continuity to the CA-150 highway from Gibaza to Carranza. The budget for this action is 4,744,000 Euros.
One of them is located at kilometer point 4/709 of the Orejo-Lergens metric gauge line in the municipality of Medio Cudeo. In this case, the solution adopted is the construction of a bypass of the CA-161 road from Solares to La Cavada and an overpass over the tracks. The investment in these works is estimated at 3,459,235.92 Euro.
A final agreement established the suppression of level crossings at kilometer point 464/207 of the Oviedo–Santander metric gauge line, as it passes through the municipality of San Vicente de la Barquera. For this, the regional highway CA-843 will be rearranged from Abanillas to Labarces, through the construction of a version with an overpass and a pedestrian walkway over the tracks. The budget of this operation is 3,104,882.78 Euro.
The actions included in these agreements are part of a protocol signed in August 2021 between Adif and the Government of Cantabria for the suppression of 15 shared ownership level crossings in the conventional rail network (Iberian gauge and metric gauge), as they pass through Cantabria. With the signing of the agreements, a cooperation framework has been established to conduct studies for the suppression of these passes located on roads owned by them and to improve the cross-sectional permeability of the railway line through municipally owned roads. are necessary.
