James Hill TinocoCEO of Holcim Mexico and president Canacem said in a press conference that he wanted to achieve this reduction each of them produced a bag of cement “We stopped generating emissions equivalent to those from a car traveling 21.7 km.”

“The cement industry in Mexico could stop emitting the same amount of CO2 generated by” nearly a million and a half cars in circulation a year“, he added.

In this sense, Hill highlighted the actions to achieve the goal: to slow down the co-processing of waste, increasing its use up to 32 percent.

Again, efforts will be made to reduce the average crypto content to 66 percent. He pointed out that this is the first time that Mexico has a Roadmap and recalled that the company’s industry is almost the most important. 80 thousand direct and indirect jobs and produces around 50 million tons. In 2022 alone, 49.9 million tons of cement were produced, 4 percent more than in 2021.

Mexico, one of the cleanest in Latin America

Tinoco Hill indicated that they are working with the Government and the Academies to accelerate decarbonization of cement. However, what he proposed to achieve this, we need to explore tax incentives y* stricter regulations to force companies to use cleaner technologies and resources.

“Mexico is the second country with the highest production 47 million tons a yearwhich involves the emission of 30 million tons of CO2, representing 20 percent of the industrial sector and 7 percent of the country’s emissions, which are now 407 million tons, hence the importance of this roadmap.
