Health and Consumption organized this Monday in the Parliament of Andalusia Conference ‘Youth and Youth Health: challenges and perspectives ‘where the counselor, Catalina Garcia presents the Strategic Health Plan for Children and Adolescents (PESIA) for the period 2023-2027, approved on November 7 by the Council of Government. Also present at the opening day was the President of the Parliament, Jesus Aguirre, and the director general of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation, Jorge del Diegoas well as the Deputy Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs, Miguel Ángel Guzmán, and territorial delegates of the Ministry among other authorities.
During her speech, Catalina García pointed out that the new Plan is a “future investment”Why “Children and adolescents are the future of any society”. In this way, he shows that the investment in his health and well-being not only improves your quality of life but also ensures a healthier future… In the same way, he emphasized the importance of prevention and promotion of health from an early age which continues the goal of reducing the burden of long-term diseases and chronic pathologies, such as obesity, type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular diseases.
Also, he emphasizes that “one of the challenges of child care systems and, in particular, public health systems, is to include the perspective of minors as subjects of rights and not only as beneficiaries of care and benefits”. According to the advisor, it is necessary to invest in childhood health to improve the quality of life throughout the life cycle.
For his part, Jorge del Diego stated that the recently approved child and adolescent health plan is “a strategic commitment to multidisciplinary integration, research and knowledge of health needs of this population group and its better position in budgets, planning and health services”.
In his speech, the director of PESIA, José Rumbao presents the strategic lines of the plan, whose goals include the development of healthy habits in the lives of children and adolescents through intervention in policies and environment; and safe a comprehensive assistance based on prevention, early detection, promotion, protection and rehabilitation/recovery of health and reduction of disease burden children and adolescents. Likewise, the new plan promote knowledge management of health determinants in childhood and adolescence and the epidemiology of childhood and adolescent disease; and promote safe, friendly and inclusive environment which can prevent health problems from getting, mainly from accidents, trauma and all kinds of violence.
Finally, the end of the challenges answered strengthening the right approach and the visibility of children in the plans, strategies and services of public health services with the importance of making effective all the developments and improvements that can be obtained from the inclusion of children’s rights in the framework of health systems and to make their services and professionals guarantee the status of the subjects on the rights of children, women and adolescents.
During the day, two tables were held with the participation of experts from the Ministries of Health and Consumption and Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality; of UNICEF-Andalusia and the Audiovisual Council of Andalusia, where aspects such as the inclusion of children’s rights in public policies; strengthening the actions of the health system for the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents against violence, according to the new regulatory framework embodied in Organic Law 8/2021, on June 4; THE positive parenting; los healthy lifestyle avoidance and support in situations of psycho social risk and media literacy and safe use of the Internet.
10 years of ‘Open Window to the Family’
Within the framework of this day, the tenth anniversary of the ‘Window open to the family’ program the platform of information and communication between the Andalusian public health system and families which is aimed at supporting mothers and fathers in the upbringing, health and well-being of their sons and daughters at different stages, from birth to adolescence and thus help to develop emotional bonds and healthy values and ethics. .
This year, ‘Window open to the Family’ (www.ventanafamilias.es) updated its website with new audiovisual content and materials about child socialization, positive parenting and shared responsibility of household and care tasks, and includes an online training platform, to promote joint responsibility and its impact on the health of households and provide guidance and tools to families, as a important space for socialization, to move towards a more equal society.
The technological update of the web, with more than 65 new audiovisual contentimplemented by the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation, in collaboration with the Andalusian School of Public Health and the Progreso Salud Foundation, with financing from the Co-Responsible Plan of the Ministry of Equality.
Right now, they are Six courses are available that address the promotion of healthy eating, emotional well-being, positive parenting and shared care in families, accident prevention and childhood obesity.as well as information on the importance of creating a healthy shopping basket and how to read the nutritional information of the products we consume, to make responsible healthy decisions with families.
Since its launch, the ‘Open Window to the Family’ program has sent, through Salud Responde, more than 2.5 million messages and the videos implemented on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs have been viewed more than 10.2 million times.
