The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said southbound drivers on Interstate 39/90 will not be able to use the ramp for the westbound Beltline between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The ramp’s completion will run from 2 a.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, WisDOT said, and will include reducing the two lanes between I-94 and the Beltline interchange on I-39/90 southbound.
Significant traffic jams are expected on I-39/90 during the closure, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use signed detour routes and other alternative routes.
Alternative routes are available through:
- Highway 51. On Exit 132 north of Madison to travel south
- Exit 135A from East Washington Avenue to Highway 51/Stoughton Road
- Exit 138B at Highway 30 to Highway 51/Stoughton Road
Wisdot said the closure will allow construction workers to finish the concrete paving on I-39/90 near the Beltline interchange, a reconstruction project slated for completion in mid-November.
