Sooner or later, electrification will reach all manufacturers in the world, including exclusive, luxury and large operations. Porsche and Ferrari are the first to enter the hybrid era, each in their own way, and Lamborghini will soon follow suit. Those from Sant’Agata in Bologna are working on the development of the first plug in hybrid supercar and, as a preview, they showed what the instrument panel of the new beast would look like. Although the display may seem normal, it is the truth details allow us to reveal new aspects that we did not know until now.
In general terms we are talking about a very aggressive and sporty driving position, how could it be otherwise. The traditional analog spheres are replaced by large and high quality panels. It hides behind the carbon fiber back steering wheel, which is overloaded with buttons and controls. If we look at the left radio, we see that the Italians have chosen to include turn signals and light control. An unnatural position that will surely arouse more than one negative comment.
The right radius is occupied by the wiper buttons, on the rotary that controls the position of the rear wing and by the button where it clearly says EV. It should be noted that a few weeks ago, Lamborghini presented us with the mechanical structure of the successor to the Aventador. The first plug-in hybrid house will have a powerful naturally aspirated V12 and a total of four electric motors. Called the LB744, the heart of this beast is destined to break countless records. The first power figures report their performance at over a thousand horsepower.
Sticking with that EV connection, it’s clear that Lamborghini will allow the driver to manage the settings. Controlling the motors will allow more or less power to be released from the plug-in hybrid design and be able to cycle in 100% electric mode. The big question is: how far? Well, we can also remove the doubts there because of the first pictures of the device. If we look at the right side of the table, the charge of the ball is how the indicator is. With an announced capacity of 3.8 kWh and a specific power of 4.5 kW/Kg, it will allow you to go to a maximum distance of 10 kilometers..
Maybe we’re talking about a single plug-in hybrid with less autonomy on the market, but this won’t be a normal PHEV. The V12 will be its main engine and will only have the help of an electric part in a few minutes. They told Sant’Agata in Bologna will be able to charge the battery in just 30 minutes thanks to a maximum power of 7 kW. How could it be otherwise, the different driving modes will be selectable with the red wheel on the left. In the most “sustainable” mode of all, city mode, the hybrid successor of the Aventador will have a maximum range of 200 kilometers. A very small space, but loaded with unique experiences.
As for the rest of the particulars, including the external plan and the internal appearance, we are still in the dark. Thus, the Italians ensured that the future design could be expected to be spectacular, borrowing many aesthetic ideas from the Lamborghini Sian. In the next few months we will learn about the new details and brushes what the new jewel in the crown of the house will look like. The launch is scheduled for next year, so there is still a long testing time and development that will take plug-in hybrids to environments as diverse as the Nürburgring and northern Europe.
