We are living in a world where combustion engine cars are starting to be frowned upon and the sport is even worse. A world that aims for zero future emissions, a world with an air future that, on the face of it, will do us all good. Wanting to reduce polluting emissions is not a bad thing, in fact it is the best goal that the industry could present itself, when politicians and foreign ideas remain on its side. But as it is, it will never happen, there is no choice but to adapt and live, to evolve without doing without what I like the most: a passionate and high performance entrepreneur.
And that evolution comes from things like the Koenigsegg Twins. It is true that the car, which is not presented now, announced the brand in 2020, shortly before everything was destroyed by the spread of the infectious disease of COVID-19. Gemera – his name is a combination of the word “gen”, which means “to give” and “to earn”; which means “more” – it’s a concept car that at first glance seems like a buzzed-about idea, but when you look at it, it’s a great idea. It is a supercar whose cabin can accommodate four people and as if that were not enough, it is powered by a hybrid powertrain.
The Koenigsegg twin is a unique car, an adaptation of the specifications to survive future change, a vehicle with such absurd characteristics as to become a hypercar, but camouflaged as a Gran Turismo hybrid with four seats and an honest trunk. Koenigsegg has created a new class of high-performance cars, which can never have more members, because it is a dangerous concept car both for its concept and its performance. Who wants a sports car with more than 1,500 CV with four seats? Perhaps, if it was an SUV, it would be the expected list of the year … and yet, the car is a demonstration of true strength and capabilities.
Of course, its incredible power is one of the most ingenious navigation systems in the automotive industry. The little girl is called a giant girl – something like “giant girl friend” – and she is really amazing. It consists of three Freevalve cylinders with two six-cylinders and two superimposed turbos, which can deliver 600 CV and which weighs barely 70 kilos, supported by no less than three electric motors. There are two on the rear wheel, one on each wheel, it is understood… – and the third is placed on the front axle. The rear engines produce more than 500 CV each, while the front ones slightly exceed 400 CV. The battery is 15 kWh and works at 800 volts.
In total there are more than 1,700 CV and two true madness, very conveniently 3,000 Nm -3,491 Nm torques exactly. The total weight of the car is 1,850 kilos and, among other things, it boasts 0 to 100 km/h in 1.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 400 km/h, all with the ZIL label in Spain, since according to Koenigsegg the electric autonomy is 56 kilometers and in total, in the mode hybrid, not less than 950 kilometers. Of course, the Koenigsegg Direct Drive system fits into the wildly released Koenigsegg Regera.
Only Christian von Koenigsegg came up with a car like this, although unfortunately, not exactly cheap. The Swedish firm intends to make the largest of 300 units, each at a price of 1.7 million dollars and the first deliveries will begin by the end of 2023.
