Third time project

Mayorissa proceeded “we are going to do the third period, that of Tabanco de Lola Flores”. Thank you very much to Deputy Mayor Laura Álvarez, for the fiscal provision. It will be in the municipal building next to Tablao de Lola Flores. We are making an Andalusian front and we are going to make it a flower patio, exhibitions, book presentations and other events, with a very Jerez-patio so that you can enjoy in that space”.

Mayorissa “explained all the care, all the care for those more than 200 original pieces that will be in the museum. There are pieces that she saved and kept so that they could come out of the trunks and be shared by everyone. Lola’s great gems are for us, we will be able to see them. And that’s why today we all we want to thank the work of Ignacio del Pilar Roldán. It is a source of pride that a man from Jerez from the neighborhood of Santiago has collaborated so that we can have this entire collection. Now we continue to sign a collaboration with him.”

Gems of Lola Flores

Ignacio del Pilar Roldán Soto expressed “I think this press conference is called dreams come true”. He thanked Mayor Mamen Sánchez for “making this dream come true, I am an absolute admirer of Lola, I thank you with all my love and admiration”.

The jeweler recalled how he received a call from Mariola Orellana offering to be the jeweler of the Lola Flores Museum and the resources that the City Council gave him to carry out the task.

Ignacio del Pilar Roldán explained “I knew I had to do it, Lola and God had sent it. I love Lola’s jewelry, regardless of her art, and she ripped my shirt off there. No one affects me as much as she does.”

He recalled that he met Lola Florum when he was very young. And I saw her appear at the booth of Los Buñuelos. I didn’t see the rainbow man anymore, I couldn’t look at her. For he is sure, “Having Lola Flowers’ jewels in my hands is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Thank you to Lola’s family for giving me this honor.”

Ignacio del Pilar Roldán professed that “Lola has ornaments, but I can assure you that she has some: rosaries, cameos, which I could not reproduce after her death. There are shows. He also mentioned the famous example of Lola Flores that was carried out during the television persecution of José Maria Íñigo, in which she lost her earring and said ‘I don’t want to lose it’. He explained in this sense that before the artists wore goods.

Among these lines, the stonemason indicated that “we will be able to see the mouth of the jewelry in the museum, but the things that could not be brought because it moved and could break. The earring is there and you have to see it and visit it and find if it has been found or not.” The artist added ” she had unique necklaces, ahead of her time. If we look at any major jewelry brand now, those are the necklaces in fashion that Lola wore fifty years ago.”

He also reported that “he knew absolutely about jewelry, he knew what he wanted. I knew that jewelry is a very distinguishing personality and should not be worth a million, but each thing has its own art. And this is what we want to achieve in the museum. I just want to say that there will be a lot of movement, I promise us jewelry that they were going to make it for the museum. Prepared ornaments for special days.”

To questions from the press, Ignacio del Pilar Roldán promoted that the interpretation at the Lola Flores Center “we will have many ornaments contributed by the family, at least 30 or 40 originals. There are more originals than replicas and some do not even have the value of restoration”.

Lola’s tablao, in autumn

On the other hand, in this press conference, mayor Mamen Sánchez announced that the second part that will integrate the space of this museum, which is already known as the tablao, will be installed in autumn. He also said that the last part that was added “doesn’t involve a lot of work, it’s a width and a patio, and when we have the project we will be able to know the time necessary to do it, hopefully it will be ready before the end of the year and”.

Citizen participation

The mayor indicated that the participation of the transfer of parties related to Lola Flores, through the site launched by the Vatican Council, had a good citizen response not only from Jerez but also from other geographical areas. “We have an inventory of what they have and who has it, to know what is there when we want to do other exhibitions. According to the argument that takes place, we already know that there is an inventory. We also received a picture in Australia. Lola was very generous and distributed everywhere.”
