When will the report of sinking in the tunnel of Chancay Megaport be ready?
The public affairs manager of “Cosco Shipping Ports” Mario De Las Casas announced this Wednesday that the shipping company, which was in charge of the construction of the Chancay Megaport, had asked the College of Engineers to decide on a special expert plan. The reasons for the subsidence of the land in the center of the population of Peralvillo, located at 80 kilometers Norte Panamericana.
They registered land reserves in the area where excavations are being carried out for the construction of the megaport tunnel, 18 affected houses remain, two are also destroyed.
Eight days after the event, De Las Casas insists that, until the causes of the incident are determined, the work of the paralytic tunnel will continue on the western and eastern fronts; but – he defined – the work on the operational port and the entrance complex will continue.
Also, a representative of Cosco Shipping avoided talking about the circumstances of the subsidence of the land, but indicated that the work was complicated due to the nature of the areas in the area.
So he thought the results of the investigation would take at least two months. “This is a long time,” he said.
“We have formally asked the College of Engineers to appoint some experts so that they can clarify what is the matter and why this has happened, and until this is determined, do not reactivate the work,” he defined.
What are the goals of the affected?
At another time, De Las Casas mentioned that a total of fifteen families, including four that were seriously affected, had been relocated from the Peralvillo region as a “precaution”.
“We compensate them, we help them, and we are close to them, because nobody likes what happens to them. They are in the rooms. We signed agreements to improve and repair,” he said.
Meanwhile, Catullus Huapaya, a community leader and community businessman in Chancay, asked the shipping company to implement the compensation announced in favor of the affected family.
“I demand that they be prepared.”
