Boston ( Associated Press) —
The New York Mets erased a six-run deficit in the ninth inning with a tiebreaking double from Starling Marte to beat the rally 8-7 on Thursday night.
With the Mets trailing 7–1, Marte led the innings with an infield single against James Norwood and scored on a two-run homer from Francisco Lindor. Mark Canha added an RBI infield single that was hit by pitcher Corey Nebel (0-2), and JD Davis hit a pinch-hit RBI double to rally the NL East-leading Mets.
Brandon Nimmo lines up a tying, two-run single in the center of Nebel. He came to the goal when Marte double-ripped it from the wall in center field.
It was the first time New York went down in the ninth by at least six runs and won since September 13, 1997, when Carl Everett hit a Grand Slam with two outs in the ninth and the Mets beat the Montreal Expo on extras. Turn.
Adonis Medina (1-0) won for the Mets and Edwin Diaz was credited with the save.
Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos made home for the Phillies, and Aaron Nola played seven quick innings. Phillips has lost five out of six.

BOSTON ( Associated Press) — Shohei Ohtani scored 11 runs in seven shutout innings, hit two and scored a run in Los Angeles’ victory over Boston.

Guardian 6, Blue Jays 5
CLEVELAND ( Associated Press) — Steven Cowan hit the first homer of his breakout rookie season and Franmil Reyes got three hits and an RBI in Cleveland’s win over Toronto.
Kwan’s two-run shot off Jose Berrios tied it for 2 in the third, beginning a string of six straight runs by Cleveland. Reyes made a go-forward run on the grounder from Amed Rosario in the fourth.
Guardians’ right-hander Aaron Siwale (1-2) scored eight runs in 5 2/3 innings, conceding four runs on six hits. Emmanuel Claes worked 1-2-3 in ninth for his fifth save in six appearances.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr hit a two-run homer, Alejandro Kirk added a single shot and Bo Bichette got three hits.
Berios (2-1) allowed a season-high six runs in 4 2/3 innings, losing for the first time since 24 September. The right-handed batsman gave eight hits and did not strike out.
Orioles 5, Twins 3
BALTIMORE ( Associated Press) — Ryan Mountcastle hit a home run twice, Austin Hays hit a home run and saved a run with his arm to help Baltimore over Minnesota.
Hayes hit a tiebreaking homer with one of eighth-placed Jhon Duran (0–1), and Mountcastle followed with a single shot of his own. Mountcastle took second, and Cedric Mullins and Jorge Matteo went even deeper for Baltimore.
Hayes dismissed Max Kepler on the plate in fourth.
Byron Buxton hits a home run for Minnesota.
Jorge Lopez (3-1) won the final for Baltimore with four dismissals.
Rockies 9, Nationals 7
DENVER ( Associated Press) – Garrett Hampson and Brendan Rodgers hit their first home runs of the season — both three-run shots — for Colorado in a win over Washington.
Randall Grichuk also made home for the Rockies, who took two out of three in the series. Daniel Byrd took three outs for his eighth defense on nine occasions. He has scored six goals in a row.
Washington beat the Rockies 15–10, and Juan Soto and Keibert Ruiz scored singles home runs. Michael Franco added three hits, including an RBI double.
Down 2–0, the Rockies played a four-run second innings total over Aaron Sanchez (1–2), ignited by successive doubles from Ryan McMahon and Rodgers. Sam Hilliard arrived on a fielding error by shortstop Alcides Escobar, his third error in two days, and Hampson followed with a drive into the bleachers of left field.
Cesar Hernandez singles, soto walks, and Josh Bell doubles in one run. But catcher Dom Nez picked Soto in third for the first out, and after a single from Yadil Hernandez, Zoulis Chasin (3-1) came on and fielded Machel Franco in an innings-ending double play.
Brewers 10, Reds 5
Milwaukee ( Associated Press) – Willie Adams hit two of Milwaukee’s six homers in another win over Cincinnati.
The major league-worst Reds have come down to 20 out of 21 overall. Cincinnati was unable to pull off another shaky performance by hard-thrower rookie Hunter Greene (1-4). The 22-year-old was tagged for eight runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings in his fourth consecutive loss. He killed seven and left one.
Louis Ureas, Christian Yelich, Tyrone Taylor and Kesten Hiura also had homers to help Milwaukee to their eighth win in nine games. Yelich finished with three hits and scored three times, and Adams had four RBIs.
Brewers right-hander Adrian Hauser (3-2) allowed five runs, four earned and seven hits in five innings.
Tyler Stephenson homed and scored two for Cincinnati.
