The millionaire number for which Pulido extended his contract with Sporting Kansas City

The day came. This Thursday, Alan Pulido’s extension with Sporting Kansas City in the MLS for the next three years will be officially announced, but not before he has signed the most important contract of his career, since he will now have an annual income of just over 68 million Pesos.

The Tamaulipas agreed to extend the first contract, which expired in December 2023. Therefore, this Thursday, together with his coach Peter Vermes, he will announce the signing crystallized in a contract worth a total of 12 million dollars for the next three seasons. That’s $4 million for each campaign, Halftime learned from sources close to the MLS team.

At the current exchange rate (17.14 Mexican pesos per dollar), Alan Pulido will receive 68.5 million pesos annually, or about 5.7 million pesos per month.

It should be noted that this salary must be added to the awards that Pulido agreed with the board. These are divided into group achievements such as classifications and championships, and personal achievements, which in their case are points and scoring titles.

A tug of war during renovation

Pulido’s re-signing cost Sporting Kansas City a lot, as a few months ago a few Liga MX teams were looking for a free attacker, Chivas was in talks and just when it looked like they were going, everything suddenly went cold.

At this point, the MLS team made more effort to keep the Mexican attacker, doubling their profits from his first contract.

And in January 2020, he signed for $2.2 million per year through December 2023, meaning he had $6 million guaranteed, plus pricing.

With this new contract, Pulido will be among the 15 highest paid players in the league and he would be the third best-performing Mexican since the MLS website lists Javier Hernández, who is paid $6 million a year with the Galaxy. followed by Héctor Herrera of the Houston Dynamo with an annual income of $4.7 million, and now Alan follows him with $4 million.

In the same portal it is reported that Lorenzo Insigne of Toronto FC was the highest paid element in the MLS with 7.5 million dollars per year plus variables, followed by the Swiss Xherdan Shaqiri of Chicago Fire with 7.3 and later Chicharito.

All this before the arrival of Lionel Messi and his friends at Inter Miami, since everything has changed there and, according to the website Capology, La Pulga is now the one who earns the most annually with 54 million dollars, followed by Sergio Busquets with 10 mdd.

With those credentials, Alan Pulido would be one of the seventh or eighth highest paid players in all of MLS.

How did Pulido do in Kansas City?

The Mexican joined Sporting Kansas City in 2020 and has since made 53 appearances and 26 goals in MLS, including missing a year due to knee surgery.

In 2023, Alan has scored 13 goals and is in contention for the MLS top scorer title; Hany Mukhtar is at the top with 14 goals.
