With the support of 19 public Congresses, the Standing Committee of the Congress of the Union declared a constitutional reform regarding the minimum age to obtain public office, so that the age of deputy or federal deputy, and ex. 30 to 25 years old from the Secret State.
“The Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union has approved the Decree reforming articles 55 and 91 of the Political Constitution of the United States of Mexico regarding the minimum age to obtain public office. The local laws approving the reform are: Baja California, Campeche, Coahuila, Colima, Chiapas, Durango, Guanajuato, Mexico City, Morelos, Nayarit, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Zacatecas and Mexicopolis.
Deputies and senators from all political forces confirmed that this reform is the first step to spread the political rights of people who have difficulties accessing health conditions.
The constitutional reform allows the inclusion of young people in decision-making without discrimination, since according to the 2020 National Population and Housing Census, 31 million people aged 15 to 29 reside in the country, equivalent to 25% of the total population. country
It should be noted that during the 64th Legislature (2018 to 2021), out of 500 deputies, only 28 were young people under 30 years of age and in the current one, there are 15 legislators, that is 3%, 15 legislators.
