New York authorities said they suspected that a missing Buffalo State University student had committed suicide, but they did not find her body.
Officials said that 19-year-old Saniya Dennis (Saniya Dennis) last appeared when she left her dormitory on April 24.
“It looks like this poor girl committed suicide,” Erie County District Attorney John Flynn told reporters on Thursday. He said her body had not been found, but they came to a conclusion based on the timetable.
Flynn said that on April 24, Dennis had an argument on the phone with her boyfriend who lives in New York City. According to the district attorney, after repeated attempts to contact him to no avail, she called another friend in New York City and said she would commit suicide.
Flynn added that she was seen leaving the campus around 11pm that night, adding that she was seen throwing personal belongings in the trash can. According to WGRZ, Flynn said that based on this video, it convinced officials that she would not return to the dormitory.
The district attorney said Dennis then sent a picture of Niagara Falls to her friend on Snapchat at around 1:00 in the morning. He added that the last outgoing text message from her mobile phone was at 1:22 am, saying that there was no mobile phone activity on her mobile phone.
New York State Park Police Major Clyde Dotty told WGRZ: “This is a sensitive case that needs to be handled and dealt with. We are all doing our best to end this matter in the best possible way. The State Park Police will continue to work hard, just like What we have always done in such cases.”
