He should have seen what was left.
When Richard Saffron of Shelbyville, Indiana, took his friend John Hoop fishing on the Ohio River last week, the goal was to land his first blue catfish for Hoop.
OK, he did, but this fish came with a secret toy surprise: a sex toy, to be specific. (WARNING: The picture below is NOT SAFE for WORK.)
“We noticed it had a huge belly when we got it in the boat,” Saffron told Indiana Fox affiliate WXIN, Bloomington. At first, they assumed it was because of the eggs or perhaps some wildlife that the fish had eaten.
“It’s common to find other fish, sometimes turtles, oysters and other animals,” he told the station.
Late into the night he actually pressed on the catfish’s belly and felt two hard objects that he knew could not lay eggs.
When they returned to Saffron’s house and harvested the catfish, they found what was protruding in the fish’s belly: a foam ball, part of another fish, and, oh, quite a large dildo. Or, as Saffron referred to it, “another thing.”
Saffron posted photos of the catfish and that “other object” to its Facebook page, where it immediately aroused, er, interest of more than 19,000 shares as of Friday afternoon.
It has also posed some challenges for him as the father of a three-year-old girl.
“When it came out, John, my wife and I started laughing,” he told WXIN. “My wife immediately covered my daughter’s eyes and turned her away from him.”
The daughter repeatedly asks what it is, but it is probably a conversation of a different time.
Saffron told HuffPost via Facebook that Hoop has catfish, but he didn’t think his fishing companions had eaten it “yet.”
In the meantime, he still has “the other item”, but probably not for much longer.
“I have no use for it,” he said.
