Several book lovers of all ages lined up in front of the bookstore, forming an impressive queue that stretched several meters. The wait did not at all affect the good mood of the customers, who discussed their future literary discoveries among themselves.

“I’m glad to see a long line to enter a bookstore. It was important for me to be here today and I don’t mind waiting. Nice weather. It is very important for me to promote this business. “I am a great lover of books,” citizen Hélène Jeannotte told Le Quotidien.

“I love reading and I work down the street, so I’m here to say hello to our new neighbors. It is nice to see a new business coming here,” said François Cantin.

When the doors opened, the general manager and co-owner of the place, Valérie Potvin, was very enthusiastic, while her team guided customers through the shelves full of books of all kinds, puzzles and board games dedicated to people of 12 months to 99 years. years. “It is difficult for me to describe the immense happiness I feel. I am happy with this traffic and I feel grateful to the customers. There are a lot of people, it’s very nice,” she shared, a few minutes after the doors opened.

This independent bookstore is the fruit of a passion for literature that germinated in Ms. Potvin’s mind. The latter reoriented her career as a special education teacher to undertake this new adventure.

The opening of her business represents the beginning of a new business adventure for her, but it is also a significant event for the Arvida community, which did not have such a business. “I tried to incorporate as much diversity as I could. Over time, we’ll see what people like and want. I find it important that customers ask me what they want so that the bookstore looks like them. I want to be accessible to people and I want to offer a personalized service. »

The Arvida neighborhood kiosk has a reading corner and a section for board games. “We also dedicate a lot of time and investment to the manga sector. There are many requests, it is growing and I would like us to become the preferred place for this type of books,” concluded the new entrepreneur.
