The opening of the NBA Draft Games will give victory to ABC, ESPN ratings

NEW YORK ( Associated Press) – The NBA tournament has not started with a clear championship, and it looks like good news for ABC and ESPN.

The network’s open-loop program last weekend had the highest number of viewers since 2011, an average of 4.17 million, up 32 percent from a year earlier, according to Nelson’s company.

The fast-paced classic between the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics led the way with 6.9 million spectators on Sunday afternoon, making it the first-ever playoff game since 2016, Nielsen said. Celtic reached the final second with a 115-114 victory over 115-114.

Of last week’s broadcast network, CBS had an average of 4.5 million viewers last week. ABC had 3.5 million, NBC 3 million, Fox 2.8 million, University 1.4 million, Ion TV 1 million and Telemundo 800,000.

Fox News Channel has averaged 2.24 million viewers in cable networks over time. TNT had 1.59 million, ESPN 1.23 million, MSNBC 1.16 million and HTTV 977,000.

Last week it topped ABC’s “World News Tonight” nightly news with an average of 8 million viewers. NBC’s Nightly News had 6.6 million, and CBS Evening News had 4.6 million.
