The roadway north of Roraima should be restored in 48 hours

Due to the rain, a part of the bridge over the Aningal stream gave way. That road connects Boa Vista to Pacarima.

Part of a bridge at kilometer 615 of the BR-174 highway in Amajari-North of Roraima collapsed following rains this Friday, May 19. The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) projects that it will take 48 hours to resolve the failure.

This was announced by the Regional Superintendent of Dnit-RR, Igo Brasil.

Repairs will be required due to collapse from the bridgehead over the Aningal stream. The section is located approximately 12 kilometers after the entrance to the municipality.

“I was at the site where the bridgehead was broken. At 4:30 p.m., the material is expected to arrive at the site for storage,” Iago Brasil, quoted by the Folha BV portal, told.

Denit organized his own teams and men from the Brazilian army to solve the problem of blocking the section.

The crater on the bridge caused an accident in which three people were injured, two of whom were transferred by SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) to Delio Tupinamba Hospital in Pakaraima.

The highway is closed, but the authorities have suggested two alternative routes from Boa Vista to Pacaraima: one of them, 230 kilometers long, is the BR-433, from the entrance to Surumu, to the BR-401 (Normandia and Bonfim).

The second, 220 km long, leaves the BR-433 (entrance to Surumu) and passes through the Vila Pasarao area. Both routes are dirt roads.

Folha BV pointed out that the restriction creates already large queues at the only gas station in Pacarima.
