The Seahawks took out Rashad Penney and Travis Homer, leaving the two healthy to face RB Washington

Renton – Rashad is running out of his last chance to make a mark with the Penny Seahawks.

A hamstring injury that has repeatedly ruled out a relegation for Monday night’s game on the Washington football team, leaving the Seahawks with only two healthy runs on the roster as of Saturday afternoon.

Seattle has also dismissed third-down running back Travis Homer, without having already started running back Chris Carson due to a neck injury at the end of the season.

Right guard Damien Lewis has also been declared out with an elbow strain.

Penny injured his hamstring in the first leg of the game, in his first NFL debut against Arizona last week.

It is possible that Penney could return to injured reserve for the second time this season, coach Pete Carroll said on Saturday.

The Seahawks’ 2018 first-round draft pick, Penny is in the final year of his rookie contract. He is set to become a free agent after this season.

Penny was placed on the IR in September with a calf strain. With Carson ruled out of a neck injury, it was expected that Penny would emerge to stabilize the running-back position with Alex Collins in the second half of the season.

“We need Rashad to come to life,” Carroll said on November 17. “This is an important time for Rashad to help us.”

Instead, the Seahawks are down to just two healthy running backs – Alex Collins and DJ Dallas.

Collins will again be heavily featured in Monday night’s ongoing game. DJ Dallas, who is trailing for the second year, will have an even greater workload.

Carroll said there’s a chance Josh Johnson, an undrafted free agent from Louisiana-Monroe, could be dropped from the practice team before Monday’s game.

“She’s got a real body style that we love,” Carroll said of Johnson.

Cornerback DJ Reed (knee) will be back in action after sitting out of the Arizona game with a knee injury.

“She’s fine,” said Carroll. “We are glad to see him come back in the last few days.”

The Seahawks placed rookie cornerback Trey Brown (knee) and reserve offensive lineman Jamarco Jones (back) on the IR on Saturday afternoon.

Brown had surgery earlier this week to repair a patellar tendon tear in his knee. He will miss the rest of the season.

Carroll said Jones has been battling a back injury “on and off” for some time.

“We’re working with[Jones]to try to get him back and correct him,” Carroll said. “He’s having a hard time staying healthy. I feel terrible for him. He’s been in and out for some time now. And he did well when he got the chance to play, but he hasn’t recovered yet . So it will take us a little more time to get it done.”

The Seahawks announced Saturday that they signed guard Phil Haynes from the practice squad and activated cornerback Nigel Warrier from the IR.
