CONCORD, NH ( Associated Press) — The family of a New Hampshire couple who died of multiple gunshot wounds after going for a walk, describe them as each other’s caregivers and supportive, and they share their lives with their husbands. Stephen Reid, 67, and Jeswende Reid, 66, left their home in an apartment complex on April 18 and went for a walk along some of the trails. After that, family and friends neither saw nor heard from him, officials said.
The attorney general and Concorde police chief said in a statement last week that their bodies were found in the area of Broken Ground Trails on Thursday evening, and that the method of death was murder.
WMUR-TV told A family statement said that Stephen Reed served four years in the Peace Corps in West Africa right after college: “He met his future wife and soul mate Wendy, who was from West Africa, when he was in Washington, D.C. I was studying on an athletic scholarship. They are bound by their mutual love of adventure and fitness.”
The couple had returned to live in Concord three years ago.
“Steve’s thirty-year career as an international development specialist serving the world’s most vulnerable through USAID humanitarian projects would not have been possible without the love, care and support of Wendy’s, who recently settled had also helped refugees from the United States,” the statement said.
Officials asked that anyone who has a home or occupational security or video surveillance system where the reeds run, please review the recordings to see if the couple was captured on video.
