The Socialist Party of the Provincial Council in the plenary session this Friday 5th will present two motions to the Provincial Council, the first to establish a system of social housing for young people in our province, through the structure of social housing or publicly owned rehabilitation housing. ; secondly, the documents of the municipal archive catalog and fingerprint to create the Digital Archive of the province of Segovia.
In a first move, the Socialist Group urges the Provincial Council to establish a social institution for young people in the province, through the structure of low-cost social housing, or the rehabilitation of publicly owned housing.
Borja Lavandera, socialist deputy, affirms that “the lack of suitable jobs, problems of access to housing and problems with basic services, such as health or transportation, are some of the main reasons for the migration of young people from Segovia to other provinces. In addition, the migration of young people to the cities has emerged as part of the aging process of the rural population.”
“Young people are committed to living in rural areas to generate an increase in the demand for local goods and services that could encourage user and job creation. Young people can also introduce new technologies and innovations that can help to modernize traditions. Economic, establishing themselves in the rural world, more sustainable to be able to engage in more respectful cultivation and livestock practices with our natural environment, thus preserving and reforming our primary and most productive system, in which the enclosure of our natural environment is important. value added,” Lavandera.
In this sense, the Socialist deputy mentions that “the right to housing is a fundamental right that has important implications for human dignity and people’s quality of life, and it is up to the public authorities and other relevant actors to work together.” that this right may be fulfilled.
“Access to housing is a key factor for young people to establish themselves in rural areas and it is important that there are public policies that facilitate access to housing, both in economic terms and in terms of infrastructure.”
“For this reason, our proposal also urges the provincial council to create the right support for cooperatives to build housing in rural areas and to promote the rehabilitation of housing in these environments through support that favors young people in settling matters. the world of the countryside’ concludes.
Digitization of files
In relation to the second motion, the socialist deputy Paul Torrego says “having public, provincial, ecclesiastical and private records of the house are precious documents, but they are great guardians of the memory of our people, and therefore of our province. Municipal archive.
“Municipal historical documents provide really valuable information from the past and, with a few exceptions, most municipal archives have many gaps and deficiencies in their organization and preservation, which prevents a general vision in the documentary volume house” to highlight.
For this reason – continued Torrego- “it is essential to invest in the preservation and dissemination of this important, through the system of cataloging, digitization and dissemination of the documentary heritage of the municipalities of our province”.
In this sense, the Socialist project examines the first step in the documents of each municipal archive, “starting with the municipalities with the highest risk of depopulation, due to the lack of resources and the risk of losing the memory that this entails”; said the social deputy.
Digitizing historical documents for better preservation and conservation is the second item of the socialist movement. “Fundamentally, this work is focused on the oldest and most important documents, seeking to have documents from before the 20th century in digital form. Digitization allows a limited consultation of the physical document, which provides a higher level of preservation”, he emphasizes. .
Finally, Pablo Torrego defends the need to create a digital film archive of the province of Segovia. “Web pages from the Provincial Government with links to the municipalities in which the document was developed, with all the records of the documents processed, as well as the documents (at least the largest ones) and which allow their search engines. integration in the provincial space so that they can be connected and serve researchers in their work and citizens in to participate in our history”, he concludes.
