The stock market continued to erode, the Sensex fell 937 points today

MUMBAI: The Sensex continues to erode after hitting a historic high of 50,000 points. The Sensex closed 937 points lower at 47,409 points on heavy selling today. The Sensex, which touched its highest peak of 50,184 points on January 21, has fallen by 2,500 points in just seven days.

IndusInd Bank topped the list of major stocks traded today. It had lost 4.26 per cent and closed at Rs 815 when the market closed. Titan also fell 4.16 per cent, Axis Bank 3.74 per cent and HDFB Bank 3.55 per cent.

Tech Mahindra, ITC and HCL were among the top three gainers today. Reliance, on the other hand, continued to erode today and its stock was at the level of 1890 with a fall of 2.56 per cent when the market closed. Infosys also fell 1.56 per cent today, and the stock closed at Rs 1,302.

In addition, Bajaj Finance was down 1.39 per cent at 4,833, HDFC was down 3.16 per cent at 2,471, Asian Paints was down 3.31 per cent at 2,421. Reddy closed 3.50 per cent lower at 4904.

Tata Motors was the biggest loser on the NSE today, falling 4.17 per cent. Apart from this, Tata Steel, Gail and Hindalco also saw declines. Tech Mahindra, SBI Life, Wipro, Cipla, Ultratech and HDFC Life topped the list.
