The SUV will power your home with electricity for 10 days

It has not yet reached the market in Spain, but the Kia EV9 continues to amaze us and not only for the design and performance that this new large electric SUV promises: also for the very advanced technology that it announces and the innovative solutions that it presents. If a few days ago I already told you that this new model will offer new convenient wireless functions that will allow more subscription services and can be considered as the first vehicle defined in the market, that is, it will be able to customers. that all that is needed for the car anyway through the cloud, today we also know that it will innovate with its electric observations. Or rather, with the surplus.

And it happened, as already reported in the United States, that the new Kia EV9 will arrive with the Vehicle-to-Building and Vehicle-to-Home systems, with which you can feed energy to the network when returning home, up to 10 days. The objective of the brand is to make its cars more and more comfortable, thus incorporating the most advanced battery technology and the best charging options.

The Kia EV9 now allows energy to be replaced by copper.

That’s how the Kia EV9 can feed energy to the grid

Together with other technologies already known in Korea, such as Kia Connect or Kia Charge services, these through a new application that shows the entire comprehensive network available (including all 28 European countries), the manufacturer now opts. for this new service to feed the energy grid, a complement to the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that we already know in the current electric EV6.

This last system, as we now remind you, allows Kia owners to power 110 V/220 V home appliances, for example, through their own car. The EV9 will now, in addition, offer these new Vehicle-to-Building and Vehicle-to-Home (V2B/V2H) systems, which allow the 99.8 kWh engine capacity of the new SUV to be used to power the home. Estimated time between 5 to 10 days.

Kia is also making sure that its new SUV can now be equipped with a Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) system that means excess energy can be returned to the grid. According to the brand, the medium and long-term goal is that in a world already equipped with thousands of electric vehicles, they can be connected to the grid and act as a virtual power plant for short and specific times.

Does the SUV allow you to know where and how you can load it most efficiently?

Finally, another interesting innovation that the Kia EV9 will present is the function of its EV Route Planner, which through wireless updates, suggests at all times which are the best charging points that are available for the battery level of the vehicle, and the options that are in use by the developer or on a predefined route.

Sjoerd Knipping, Kia’s Vice President of Marketing and Product Europe, states that “the offering of the next generation of sustainable mobility solutions” involves a fluid and holistic interplay of electrification, connectivity and new services. Starting with the new EV9, Kia is working to make fully connected electric vehicles and future-proof vehicles to allow new innovations and features to become available.”
