Environmental activists claimed to have slashed the tires of dozens of SUVs overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday in Montreal to protest the growing sale of “energy-intensive and polluting” vehicles. »

Ongoing investigation

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) confirmed that they received a call around 7:30 a.m. about vandalism involving several vehicles in the Outremont sector.

“When the police arrived at the scene, they checked the area and found many vehicles that were victims of bad acts. The investigators of the site should take investigative steps to find the owners belong to the concerned vehicles,” explained public relations agent Caroline Chèvrefils.

According to the initial information, the wrongdoings were possibly committed during the night by a possible group of individuals with a social claim, and a note from the group concerned was left on the vehicles concerned, determining the police force.
