Is there anything more American than the West, a flag perhaps, a Thanksgiving, a Thanksgiving table, or better yet, call your daughter’s friend to come to her house on the first day as a perverted test? Well, Goyo Jiménez remembered all this, and much more, to make the third appearance in the Trilogy of Aiguantulivinamerica, an intelligent and humorous monologue, much to the chagrin of which Avila won the public from the minute. The Santo Tomás Theater was almost full at the time, with a great laugh, which aimed to leave many spectators better than they entered. I don’t know so much, but at least it was a Sunday afternoon spent laughing so well.
A Goyo Jiménez in his Western movie took a look at the American way of life, a dream that he wants to tell us through the fruits of the film that are cooked on the other side of the pond, but much more than that. . Those American women were precisely used as a mirror to tell our story, sometimes more miserable, sometimes more fortunate, but always through the prism of cheerfulness. Do not our potato tortillas without onions, of course – and our croquettes – there is no debate here – chickpea cream and corn in manna? Well that’s it. But if American actors are suddenly better than Spaniards, I won’t get involved…
Experienced and reflexive, Goyo Jiménez was gifted with skills to win public favor from the beginning, in which he promised to make signs with a revolver without guns, a very successful event, and which continued the typical scenes of American life, clichés included; but no less cheerful. As a blessing, even the monologue itself was blessed, an excuse with which he could give thanks for returning to cultural affairs after the pandemic.
Notes to Ávila were not lacking either: La Muralla and Santa Teresa emerged in the show “experts in American affairs” by excellence, a title that suits the group. Because of this, he has been laughing for years at things that have been accepted into his field, about jokes that know how to connect with the public and who knows how to move the key to laughter.
