Finally peace or, at least, a truce that the city of Moncada would be as permanent as possible. The population has had a long time of high tension between two football clubs: Atlético Moncadense and Moncada CF Global. A path full of insults, personal threats, unacceptable phrases on social networks and, finally, a gruesome spectacle in the derby between the two teams on Sunday, May 14.
That day, with many fans in the stands and the feeling rising to the surface due to tensions between the clubs, the last of the boundaries was crossed: an attack that would eventually be told in favor of the Civil Guard and hundreds of citizens of Moncada and a against the other. A ruckus that overtook the David Casino Sports Center. “We apologize to both the fans as well as the city of Moncada,” said a statement prepared a few days after the serious events.
The two clubs, the Civil Guard, the Moncada local police and the city council met in Consistency to end the problem once and for all. According to those present, the wounds have not completely closed, yet everyone did their part to make the stage peaceful. “Being aware of the current problems in the use of facilities, of which Atlético Moncadense has nothing to do and to which misunderstandings arise, we hope that soon a consensus will be reached that allows normality is”, they collect about the main origin regarding the dispute between the clubs: Moncada CF Global claims the use of the land for training and games.
The ‘show’ of the Moncadence Derby has been the talk of town residents over the past week, most of them embarrassed by what happened in the stands and on the grass at David’s Casino. Thus, “a new way has been opened to emphasize the values we want for our children. Respect, friendship, cooperation, coexistence, sportsmanship and responsibility. Atlético Moncadence and Moncada CF Global put safety first. The forces and the government team promised to work “jointly” to avoid repeating mistakes, to bring their relationship to “social peace”.
