The United States Embassy in Cuba published a note about a deportation flight.

In their message, they pointed out that this Thursday, November 30, the eighth deportation flight from the United States arrived in Havana in 2023.

“The flight returned 37 Cubans to the island who tried to enter the United States without authorization,” the diplomatic headquarters reported.

“Don’t put your safety or that of your family at risk. Safe and legal travel,” they added.

As it is known, Cuba and the United States agreed in November of last year to resume deportation flights for migrants deemed “inadmissible” after being detained at the Mexican border.

This return of “inadmissible” migrants was a 2017 agreement but was suspended by the health crisis and the deterioration of bilateral relations after the “thaw” period initiated by former US presidents Barack Obama and Cuban Raúl Castro.

On November 14, Cuba and the United States held talks on immigration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked the US government to end measures that facilitate illegal immigration.

Minrex emphasized in its official note on immigration talks that Cubans who come irregularly to the United States receive “preferential treatment” and that the Adjustment Law is another stimulus for illegal immigration.

“For the United States, the priority of destabilizing Cuba continues to take precedence over its interest in protecting its borders,” said Carlos de Cossío in this regard.

It was recently known that more than 12 thousand Cubans arrived at the southern border of the United States in October 2023. The number of all border points is more than 18 thousand.
