The Embassy of the United States in the Dominican Republic repeated the call to its citizens who plan to cross the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic to make “alternative arrangements” on Friday, September 15, at 6:00 am.
In a statement published on the X account (formerly Twitter), the US embassy warned them that after the announcement of the closure made by the Dominican Government, until further notice, they cannot leave or enter any country after that date.
Additionally, he explained that the United States Embassy cannot facilitate entry into Haiti or the Dominican Republic through a closed border crossing.

Border closure
President Luis Abinader reported today that the entire border of the Dominican Republic, land, sea and air, will be closed starting at 6:00 am this Friday, September 15.
The president added that they will continue with the plan they established in the National Security Council and in this sense, he stated that the Ministry of Defense is ready, with the National Army, Navy and the Air Force, to fulfill the established provision. .
The head of state determined that despite the provision, they continue talks with the Government of Haiti, while remembering that the government of the neighboring country itself admits that it has problems controlling its territory.
He described the construction of the Masacre River canal as foolish and said that it is an inadequate job, without any kind of engineering, which is a challenge that the Government will not accept.
