The US is once again faced with the threat of budget paralysis

The United States is again at risk of federal paralysis if Congress does not reach an agreement on a new budget within two weeks.

Several financial bills are circulating in Washington at the same time without enough votes in the legislature for approval by Democrats who control the Senate and Republicans who control the House of Representatives.

Lawmakers have until midnight Sept. 30 before funding for public services suddenly stops.

Ministries, national parks, some museums and a variety of organizations would be affected and their employees would be put into so-called “technical unemployment” because they lack the means to pay them.

Although the very divided politicians of both parties do not want this situation, they are faced with the rejection of many supporters of former President Donald Trump in Congress.

“Extremist Republicans in the House of Representatives are playing with people’s lives,” the White House accused in a statement on Tuesday.

This blockade even threatens economic aid to Ukraine in the war with Russia. The White House intends to include $24 billion in military and humanitarian aid for Kyiv in the financial bill, an idea supported by both parties in the Senate but radically questioned by Trump supporters in the House.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will visit Washington on Thursday to meet with President Joe Biden and parliamentary leaders after attending the United Nations General Assembly this Tuesday.
