The Villa de Carrizo Theater Festival is raising the curtains on its twentieth edition this Saturday

The XX Villa de Carrizo Theater Festival, organized by the Carrizo City Council and the Orbigo Youth Association of the same city and sponsored by the León Institute of Culture, the León Provincial Council and the Carrizo Neighborhood Council, takes place this Saturday, May 20. Its final point. Once again, in its twentieth edition, the festival has the presence of theater groups from all over Spain.

During the evening, the prizes awarded each year will be known: stage design, actor, actress, special mention of the jury and special prize from the public, endowed with € 300 and the Menina image of the festival, in addition to the prize for the best work, In which there is a prize of € 1,200 and a special menu of the competition.

Closing ceremony host

It will be legendary actress Silvia Marso, who will serve as the host of the Blues & Roots show, along with legendary musician Danny del Toro and his band.

Silvia Marceau’s career is well known in our country, undoubtedly a benchmark in Spanish theater where she has starred in many productions such as La Gran Sultana, by Miguel de Cervantes, Three Versions of Life, by Yasmina Raza, Dona Yerma by Rosita La Soltera and Federico García Lorca, Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Zoo or 24 Hours in the Life of a Woman by Stefan Zweig, of which she was also a producer and for which she won the Broadway World Spain Award for Best Musical .

Her career has been supported by prestigious awards such as the Ersila Award or the Max Theater Award given to the musicals Te Quiero, Eres Perfecto, or Te Cambiare, in which she starred in the year 2000. In both film and TV, she also worked a lot under the orders of respected directors such as Narciso Ibáñez Serrador, Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Pedro Olea or José Luis García Sánchez.

Musical performance

With this show, and accompanied by legendary musician Danny del Toro, he makes his debut in the world of music with a musical-theatrical show called Blues & Roots, an emotional and soulful journey that spans from the birth of blues to the coasts happened. of the Mississippi, until it reached Manhattan, where in 1929 the Harlem Renaissance arose, a cultural movement that attracted Federico García Lorca and intellectuals from half the world.

Tickets to attend the performances can be purchased at the box office of the House of Culture of Carrizo de la Ribera (Avenida Dr. Gonzalez Alvarez, s / n) 30 minutes before the start of each performance. In advance, they can be purchased at the Carrizo City Hall, located in Plaza Victor García de la Concha. The show will start at 8:30 pm. The venue will close after five minutes.
